Telecommunication monopoles are tall steel structures composed of steel components such as tower bodies, platforms, and lightning rods. They are hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection and are mainly used for the transmission of microwave, ultra-short wave, and wireless network signals, serving wireless communication systems in fields such as public security, transportation, and communications. It includes many types, such as lattice angular tower, tubular tower, monopole, or guyed towers and masts.
After fabrication, all steel members of the towers are delivered to the galvanizing facility to be Hot DIP Galvanized. Towers are processed through the facility by Caustic Cleaning, Pickling, and then fluxing. These strict procedures ensure years of maintenance-free towers. Even we take a secondary finish for the client again, which is duplex surface treatment. The duplex coating is applied in our own paint shop.
Duplex surface treatment involves sand-blasting to remove 5-10 microns of the 70-150 micron thick hot dip galvanization coating. This removes any contaminants and roughens the surface. Almost immediately afterwards, in a controlled atmospheric environment, water-based painting, specially developed and manufactured for this purpose, is applied to the tower (structures) to a thickness of 80-120 microns.
